The Glen Cove incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21.

According to Nassau County Police, 20-year-old Xavier Diaz walked into the CVS located at 201 Glen Street, where he allegedly demanded the employees to open two cash registers.

He reached over the counter, took cash, and fled the scene in a 2015 Chrysler.

Officers later found the car and stopped him on Glen Cove Road near the intersection of Northern Boulevard.

However, police said that Diaz, who is from Uniondale, also fled from the traffic stop, heading south on Glen Cove Road.

He was caught when he crashed into the Meadowbrook State Parkway overpass.

Diaz was taken to a local hospital and is charged with:

  • Grand larceny;
  • Unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle; and
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Hempstead’s First District Court on Wednesday, June 12.
